Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian-French painter and art theorist, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of abstract art. A founding member of Der Blaue Reiter group, Kandinsky's work evolved from figurative landscapes to radically abstract compositions driven by colour, form, and musical analogy. His graphic works — including lithographs and woodcuts published posthumously by Maeght and XXth Siècle — reflect the full arc of his artistic development, from early expressionist woodcuts to the geometric abstractions of his later years.
